Imports: Rehabilitation supplies grow rapidly

From January to September, China imported medical devices from 93 countries and regions. From a regional perspective, Europe is my country's largest import market for medical devices, with imports of US $4.29 billion, up 26.52 percent year-on-year, accounting for 39.42 percent; North America is the second largest market, with imports of US $3.548 billion, up 20.85 percent year-on-year, accounting for 32.59 percent; Asia ranked third, with imports of US $2.781 billion, up 12.05 percent year-on-year, accounting for 25.55 percent, and the three continents accounting for 97.56 percent.

In terms of specific countries and regions, the top ten import markets are the United States, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Ireland, South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands and Singapore, with a total import value of US $9.113 billion, accounting for 83.73 per cent.

For a long time, China's medical device import market is mainly the United States, Germany and Japan, of which the products imported from the United States mainly include color Doppler ultrasound, CT, medical linear accelerator, MRI and suture, etc.; the products imported from Germany mainly include CT, MRI, endoscope, dialysis equipment, X-ray contrast agent and ventilator, etc. The products imported from Japan mainly include CT, color Doppler ultrasound, endoscope, medical catheter and dialysis equipment, etc; the products imported from Switzerland mainly include orthopedic or fracture devices, cardiac pacemakers, syringes, artificial joints, dental appliances and ophthalmic devices, etc.; the products imported from Ireland mainly include vascular stents, medical catheters, contact lenses, X-ray examination Contrast agents, artificial joints and cardiac pacemakers, etc.

From the perspective of product structure, from January to September, China's imports of diagnosis and treatment equipment, medical consumables, rehabilitation products, oral materials and medical dressings were US $7.79 billion, US $1.715 billion, US $0.853 billion, US $0.33 billion and US $0.197 billion respectively, up 10.84, 29.88, 197, 36.99 and 13.92 year on year, accounting for 71.57, 15.75, 7.84, 3.03 and 1.81. Among the five major categories of products, rehabilitation supplies increased significantly, as high as 197 percent, mainly due to the rapid growth of imports of orthopedic implants, orthopedic or fracture appliances and contact lenses.

From January to September, China mainly imported color Doppler ultrasound from the United States, South Korea, Japan, Austria, Norway and Italy. From the perspective of enterprise structure, from January to September, a total of 10,498 enterprises in China were engaged in the import of medical devices, of which 4193, 5260 and 1012 were foreign-funded enterprises, private enterprises and state-owned enterprises, with imports of US $4.408 billion, US $3.859 billion and US $2.585 billion respectively, up 23.54, 23.72 and 10.7 year on year, accounting for 40.50, 35.45 and 23.75.

From the perspective of export regions, Asia is my country's largest export market for medical devices, with exports of US $4.578 billion, a year-on-year increase of 12.96 percent, accounting for 32.66 percent; Europe is the second largest market, with exports of US $3.775 billion, a year-on-year increase of 5.53 percent. The proportion was 26.93; North America ranked third, with exports of US $3.665 billion, a year-on-year increase of 10.06 percent, accounting for 26.14 percent.

In terms of specific countries and regions, the top ten export markets are the United States, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, the United Kingdom, Russia, the Netherlands, France, India and South Korea, with a total export value of US $8.423 billion billion, accounting for 60.09 per cent. Summary and Prospect

From the import and export amount from January to September, it can be seen that China's medical device trade surplus has been shrinking, mainly due to the fierce competition in the global medical device market, the continuous expansion of China's medical device market demand, and some enterprises have shifted their focus to the domestic market on the basis of maintaining a certain export trade. From the perspective of specific products, imported products are still dominated by high-tech and high value-added products such as color Doppler ultrasound, CT, MRI, endoscopy, vascular stents and linear accelerators. Among the exported products, low value-added products such as cotton wool, gauze, bandages, medical non-woven fabrics and syringes are the main products. Most of the exported color Doppler ultrasound, CT and MRI are products of foreign companies in China. From the perspective of enterprise structure, there is little difference between private enterprises and foreign-funded enterprises in the number of enterprises and the amount of imports. However, among export enterprises, the number of private enterprises is nearly 10000 more than that of foreign-funded enterprises, but the proportion of export value of foreign-funded enterprises is as high as 50.01.

In general, my country's medical device import and export trade continued to improve in 2013. With the rapid development of my country's economy, the rigid demand of the domestic market, and the continuous integration of domestic resources, the gradual emergence of innovative medical devices, my country's medical device imports and exports Both will maintain a high growth rate.
